YBLTV Review: PIQ Sport Intelligence – PIQ ROBOT Blue
The difficult part of working out is avoiding the inevitable boredom that ensues. That same routine day after day needs something extra to help motivate you. With all the gimmicks flooding the market, it’s satisfying to know that Everlast and PIQ combines tech and and boxing to help reinvigorate your workout.
“PIQ ROBOT Blue is fun, simple, and offers so much data to dissect, perfect for the inquisitive boxing-mind looking to spice up their workout,” – William Fraser, YBLTV Writer / Reviewer
Advanced Sensor – System PIQ ROBOT Blue markets itself as a refined instrument, specifically designed in Sweden to help you get better, faster, and stronger as a boxer. Due to that nature, PIQ is a “sensitive” device, but that’s only because it’s not just a toy. PIQ is quick to charge with a great plug-less charger, only taking around 2.5 hours to fully charge.
It’s a bit of a slow app installation process due to updates, but the installation is very simple and helps you with step-by-step instruction. Once installed, the app and the PIQ sensors are easy to pair together and takes no longer than the press of a button to start your workout.
The calendar on the app is great to plan your workouts. You can track your progress and measure your growth as a boxer, as the app gauges the number of punches you throw and the speed and strength of your punches.
- Easy, step-by-step instructions to follow
- Makes your workout more interesting
- Slow installation process due to updates and synchronization
- Occasionally misses punches, especially if thrown in quick succession
- Power: 3.7 Volt Lithium Polymer Rechargeable Battery
- Connectivity: BLE 4.2
- Compatibility: iPhone 4s and newer, Android 4.4.2 and newer
As awesome as PIQ ROBOT Blue is, it doesn’t sense flurries that well. That’s not to say I’m so fast, the sensors can’t sense me. It’s just that the sensors miss some punches, albeit only occasionally. For the greater part, PIQ is highly accurate, even going to far as to distinguish between jabs, crosses, hooks, and uppercuts.
PIQ is fun, simple, and offers so much data to dissect, perfect for the inquisitive boxing-mind looking to spice up their workout.
