YBLTV Review: JBL Synchros Reflect BT Sport Wireless Headphones

There’s a real problem with sport headphones these days. Either you can’t keep gaming attached to your head or the agitation they cause makes you want to take them off. If you are a consistent gym goer, there are three things you look at when buying headphones: appearance (the look), sounds quality and most importantly functionality. JBL’s Synchros Reflect BT Sport Wireless headphone’s innovative design allows it to be one of the most well functioning headphones on the market, but products’ design may also be its downfall.

Functionality

Functionality is where this product shines. The wireless headphone has two ends, each with a detachable rubber earpiece that is inserted into your ear. The box includes three sizes labeled your standard small, medium and large. I initially thought I was a small, but after trying all three I found that the medium conformed the best to my ear. Each earpiece has a rubber extension resembling a hook that tucks into the fold of your ear. Once you adjust to how it feels when secured, the earbuds are easy to take in and out. In addition, the cable length is adjustable by pushing or pulling the cable through the two plastic slides. So regardless of your outfit or ear size, the Synchros accommodate well.

According to the description on the box, The Synchros are designed for intense workouts. After initial skepticism, the product passed with flying colors. The headphones rarely needed to be adjusted during my normal circuit training workouts, even when going inverted for exercises like sit-ups. Best of all, the headphones feel light in your ear and cause zero irritation. Finally, a pair of headphones secure and comfortable enough for long distance runs!

Sound Quality

While the sounds quality doesn’t blow you away, what you get is clearly better than your cheap standard headphones. When compared to the Apple Ear Pods, I noticed a step up in sound clarity and a significant boost in the base. Even when the volume is maxed out, there is no fuzziness in the sound and the music clear. The Synchros Reflect BTs provide the standard of sound expected out of sport headphones. If you were looking for better, you’d probably be looking at a product with a significantly larger price tag.

Appearance

If the look of your headphones doesn’t matter to you, stop reading this now. Go buy them and carry on with your life. Unfortunately, The Synchros successfully check ever box besides one – They look goofy. When inserted in your ear, the headphones poke out just far enough to catch your eye. When looking in the mirror, I couldn’t help but feel like Rosie The Robot from The Jetsons. Sure, everything else about the look of the headphones is satisfactory, including a sleek design and a large assortment of colors to chose from. However, I just can’t overlook how odd the headphones appear when inserted in your ear. I would certainly wear them on a run around the neighborhood, but I’d be hesitant to wear them in a crowded gym.

Overall, JBL’s Synchros Reflect BT Sport Wireless Headphones have one flaw — and unless you like The Jetsons — it might be fatal. If the look doesn’t bother you, you might have found your next favorite pair of headphones.
