YBLTV Review: The Bill Murray Experience
I love movies, and from time to time, documentaries peak my interest. Sadie Katz is a writer and actress, experiencing an upset in her life, when she decides to embark on what she deems ‘The Bill Murray Experience.’ A Bill Murray-related documentary, you say? Why not buckle in for this adventure.
Bill Murray is an actor that came from the Chicago suburbs, rose through Second City and Saturday Night Live, and became a legend. More than just a legend in Hollywood, Murray is a legend in the hearts and minds of a great many of his fans. Considered to be a great actor, a standout comedian, golf enthusiast, and more, Murray’s influence can be seen in several environments. For years, Bill would only take business calls through an 800 number. Think of the reality of that for a moment. Now let’s take a look at things from the opposite side. Everyone and their brother wants Bill to be involved in their project.
“The adventure to meet Bill Murray Experience takes the viewer on an incredible journey beyond what you would ever expect.” -Patrick Mackey, @mackeyp42 YBLTV Writer / Reviewer
Everyone wants his autograph or to take their picture with the man. Bill has taken the reins of his celebrity, and has been able to re-write the reality that he is expected to have. Maybe he’ll wander in and crash a wedding reception, or casually join a frat party. No one person knows quite what to expect from him, including his own family. Bill’s brother Joel is a part of this documentary, and you can tell from him, that being related to the enigmatic actor can be anything but normal.
- Incredible adventure
- Throwing caution to the wind
- A great story
- A sense of loss
The adventure that Sadie takes us on has several strong feelings involved. Love, loss, excitement and exhaustion. Taking the life you know, and putting everything aside for the pursuit of an idol. This is no menial task. Giving up your place to call home. Leaving your friends behind when they doubt where your adventure takes you.
Most people would have given up after either a few hours, or perhaps a few days. Sadie brought a camera, a friend, and decided she was not going to give up. What we see if the life lessons learned within this documentary. Lessons that I hope each reader will view this documentary and understand for themselves. When it comes right down to it, Sadie learned that sometimes the lesson is really the prize, and that some lessons, can only be learned by being a part of them.
