Overall, I think CocoPull by Aviva Pure is a pretty good product, despite some packaging flaws, lack of USDA organic certification, and my own personal issues with coconut oil pulling. If you like oil pulling and can do it for the recommended period of time, I’d say go for it! It makes your mouth and teeth feel squeaky-clean and it freshens breath extremely well. For whitening, I think if you used CocoPull enough, you should probably see some good results. However, in my 14-day detox, I did not see significant results.
- Makes your teeth and mouth feel great after using

- Process of oil pulling may offset some
- Whitening may not be that noticeable depending on usage time of product
YBLTV Review: CocoPull – Coconut Oil Pulling Packets For Whiter Teeth & Healthier Smile
There are so many benefits of coconut oil. I use it for just about everything – cooking, baking, as a face wash and makeup remover, as a hand lotion, for minor scraps since it is anti-bacterial. One thing I have never been able to get into was coconut oil pulling. However, when I had the chance to test out a coconut oil pulling system for teeth whitening and fresher breath, I figured I’d give it a go and see what I thought!
“With CocoPull, your mouth feels squeaky-clean and fresh. If you use enough, you should see some good teeth-whitening results,” – Kayla Costanzo, YBLTV Writer / Reviewer
Upon first receiving CocoPull, I, myself, wasn’t too keen on the packaging. I was curious to see if the quality of the product was going to live up to my expectations. On Aviva Pure’s website, it’s stated that Co19coPull is 100% unrefined virgin coconut oil (Certified Organic). Although, I did not find any USDA organic seal certification on the packaging, which would be really nice so you know you’re getting an actual organic product.
What I did really like about the packaging, however, was that it had the instructions on the box and it was easy to read and follow. The actual product – the coconut oil – is all divided into 14 separate packets so I knew it was going to be easy to use and there would be no fuss or mess.
I loved how clean the CocoPull made my teeth and mouth feel after I used it. Every time I was done it felt like I just left the dentist’s office and had a squeaky clean smile.
I also found it worked wonderfully as a breath freshener and deodorizer. Coconut oil has natural anti-bacterial properties, which contributes to fresher breath, but the peppermint (mentha piperita) oil also helps with the freshening. I think the peppermint oil is a great addition to the coconut oil for a few reasons. I am definitely not a fan of coconut oil pulling since I hate the texture of the oil in my mouth and the lack of flavor when you are swooshing it around. The peppermint gave it a minty fresh flavor, which made it far more tolerable for my palate!
I liked how each of the packets was separated into perfection portions for each time I used the system. It made it pretty easy and it was generally hassle-free. I did find that the packets were really difficult to tear open by hand. They would never open up properly, so I always had to go search for scissors in order to open it.
Again, I didn’t like how hard it was to open the packets by hand. But this is a minor flaw. The instructions say the best time to complete your oil pulling is in the morning when you wake up and before you eat, but I found that was nearly impossible and would be unpleasant to do in the morning. I think for most people doing it to 20 minutes in the morning is unrealistic and would also ruin your ability to eat breakfast. The last thing I want to do is oil pull and brush my teeth and then go straight to drinking coffee and eating breakfast. I did mine at night before bed, which I found worked better for me and would work better for most people as well.
Like I said above, I really don’t like the process of oil pulling. I find the texture and mouthfeel off-putting. Therefore, working my way up to doing 20 minutes a day was impossible. The longest I was ever able to do was 12 minutes. Swooshing that around my mouth for nearly a half-hour was not doable, but this may not be an issue for some people!
As far as the whitening goes, I did not find there to be a huge difference in my teeth. There may be a slight difference, but nothing too notable. This may be because I was never able to do it for the recommended period of time, however.
Overall, I think CocoPull by Aviva Pure is a pretty good product, despite some packaging flaws, lack of USDA organic certification, and my own personal issues with coconut oil pulling.
