YBLTV Review: LED Samsung Smart TV (ES6150 Series)
I’ll admit, this review could, very well, be a bit on the bias side because it was the first TV that I bought after graduating college. The year was 2012 and there was a Black Friday sale that had continued to the following Saturday—my preferred day to Black Friday shop—so I went into Costco to check out their inventory. There was barely anything left but I did find this 2012 LED Samsung Smart TV just sitting alone in the corner of a shelf. It was a 46” flat screen for under $800.00 after all the discounts. I’ll be honest with you– I didn’t care what the specs were. I grabbed that TV as fast as I could get my hands on it and, an hour later, I was hooking it up in my room. It has been with me ever since.
LED Samsung Smart TV Specs
For those of you who like to see what something is made of on paper, here are some of the specs that I think are pretty important. This is not, by any means, all of them, but this should give a good view of what this Smart TV has got to offer:
- 46″ Screen,
- Resolution 1080p
- Clear Motion Rate 240
- SRS TheaterSound® HD
- Wi-Fi Ready
- Auto Power Off
- Anynet+™ (HDMI-CEC)
- BD Wise™ Plus
- ENERGY STAR® Certified
Like I said, I could go on but these are just some of the main specs that I would want to know if I were interested in buying this TV.
What to Love and What Not to Love About the LED Samsung Smart TV
I discovered over time that this TV has one feature that many other Smart TV’s its age and price range do not have: 1080p Resolution. It makes all the difference in your visual experience. Of course, when I first got my TV, I had no idea what a gem I had found. But, as more and more people commented on how clear the picture was, I learned more about resolution — and discovered that a lot of TVs had a resolution of only 720p. Today, of course, 1080p or higher is the standard, but this Samsung Smart TV was definitely ahead of its time. This Smart TV has great apps that allow you to play games, search the internet, log into social media networks, and stream videos on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, YouTube and many others.
The LED Samsung Smart TV (ES6150 Series) is pretty quick to react to commands. However, it can have a weak internet connection at random times for, seemingly, no reason at all and can cause your apps to skip or stop working. Like most TVs and game consoles, it doesn’t update while it sleeps, which can be annoying when you sit down to watch a bit of Netflix during your dinner meal and you have to spend ten minutes watching a loading bar. One of the best features is the Energy Star Certification. That didn’t really become standard until a little later on so, again, this Smart TV was ahead of its time. The EcoSensor technology will turn off the TV when it isn’t in use for more than 4 hours and the LEDs they use draw a lot less power and last a lot longer than non-LED TVs.
I honestly think that the 2012 LED Samsung Smart TV was, not only a great buy, but a steal for the price that I was able to get it for. Thank you Black Friday sales on Saturday! I have entertained quite a bit over the last 4 years and there is always someone to comment on the greatness of my TV’s picture. The sound is loud without having to turn the volume all the way up and the command response time is super quick. Other than the annoying updates breaking into my dining time and the occasional skip in internet connection, I have had no complaints at all about my LED Samsung Smart TV (ES6150 Series). After 4 good years of usage, I have no desire to replace it with a “newer” model because, like I said, many other TVs are just catching up.
