YBLTV: What is it the company does?

NetBeez: NetBeez, Inc. is a network monitoring startup that simulates users to detect network and application issues before users do.

YBLTV: What inspired the company to start­up?

NetBeez: The Co-Founders are network engineers who built and operated large­sized enterprise networks with hundreds of offices and thousands of users. They realized that users knew better than IT about the status of the network and applications, as results problems are nowadays still detected by the end­ users and escalated to IT via the help desk. This process prolongs network downtime and as a result, companies lose time automating outage detection and mitigation.

YBLTV: How did you go about starting up, did you apply for funding or did you self ­fund the project? If so, where did you secure funding from?

NetBeez: NetBeez was started at the AlphaLab startup accelerator in Pittsburgh.

YBLTV: Where do you get advice, support and/or help?

NetBeez: The company received funding and support by Carnegie Mellon University as well as Y Combinator.

YBLTV: What has been your biggest challenge so far? 

NetBeez: Getting the initial traction and beta customers. Now, finally NetBeez is live and used by many medium and large size companies, including Fortune 500s and Software/Internet companies like GoDaddy, one of the largest domain registrars in the world.

YBLTV: What is your next big target?

NetBeez: NetBeez will be working with retailers, resorts managers, and financial institutions to monitor their network infrastructure, including wireless, to ensure good application performance and enforce Service Level Agreements with Internet and cloud service providers.

YBLTV: What is the best and worst thing about being a start­up?

NetBeez: Best: you get to do a lot of things and every day is not the same.
NetBeez: Worst: requires a lot of commitment, energy and support.

YBLTV: What makes this idea different?

NetBeez: NetBeez is a novel network management solution that uses IoT devices to monitor enterprise networks and cloud services.

YBLTV: Who would be your dream customer?

NetBeez: Large companies with thousands Starbucks, Bank of America…

YBLTV: How do you see the IT landscape evolving in 2016 and beyond?

NetBeez: The number of connected devices is increasing faster than expected and the availability and performance of the Internet and of an enterprise network is fundamental.
