New York, NY – May 1, 2015 – Autonomous, a New York City startup, is launching a complete redesign of the everyday office desk. The product – The Autonomous Desk – combines artificial intelligence and ergonomic furniture design into a new piece of furniture that may change the way we work forever.
If you work in an office, chances are you spend eight to ten hours a day – sitting at the desk. That’s one third of your life. But office desks today are pretty much the same with what they’ve always been for hundreds of years. It’s just four legs, holding up a piece of wood.
The Autonomous Desk is not just a beautiful piece of modern furniture, it’s artificial intelligence. It senses your presence and automatically moves to your preferred heights. It learns about you and your working habits, and adjusts its algorithm to you. Throughout the day, it proactively asks you if you want to stand up or sit down.
It is also a hands-free personal assistant. You can talk to the desk and ask it like “when is my next meeting”, “call a taxi”, or “order me a chicken caesar salad for lunch”. The desk comes with a speech recognition engine and natural language understanding, so that you can focus on your work and just ask it to help you with tasks throughout the day.
In one way, the Autonomous Desk is also the first’s smart office hub that let you control all your connected devices like Nest, Philips Hue, LIFX, or Lockitron right from your desk.
The Autonomous Desk will be retailed from $499.
The company’s mission is to take everyday (boring) products and turn them into autonomous, smart, and living objects. The desk is one of main products that are being launched in 2015.
