Designed for integration during the manufacturing process, Cognitive-enabled Smart TVs allow viewers to experience TV rather than simply watch it.

When activated on Smart TVs, Cognitive’s proprietary technology identifies content as it is broadcast and establishes an immediate connection with TV programmers, allowing them to automatically launch interactive applications in real time — all designed to enhance, support and maximize the viewing experience. Essentially, Cognitive Networks makes Smart TVs “smarter.”

According to Cognitive’s founder and Chief Technical Officer Zeev Neumeier, traditional Smart TVs receive only video and audio from set-top boxes with no information about the content displayed. As a result, they cannot intelligently connect the applications plane with the video plane of the TV.

Smart TVs are, in effect, deliberately blinded by the void of program data from set-top boxes.
