New VidyoDesktop VE supports video conferencing for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop Implementations
Hackensack, NJ, July 31, 2014 – Vidyo, Inc., today announced VidyoDesktop™ Virtual Edition (VE), a powerful video conferencing desktop client designed specifically for virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments. Adding to Vidyo’s robust infrastructure and endpoint portfolio, VidyoDesktop VE extends the high-quality and scale of the Vidyo solution to Citrix® virtual desktop offerings including Citrix XenDesktop® and XenApp®.
VidyoDesktop VE further builds on Vidyo’s commitment to providing users with universal meetings, allowing participants to collaborate in secure, feature rich, multi-point HD meetings from virtually any available device, including desktop, mobile, web, room systems, H.323/SIP endpoints, and now from their virtual desktop.
“Organizations that have chosen to deploy VDI for security and control purposes now have the ability to fully leverage the high-quality experience that Vidyo delivers within that environment thanks to the flexibility and scalability of the VidyoWorks™ platform,” said Ofer Shapiro, Vidyo CEO and co-founder. “When people need to collaborate, they don’t care about what technology they are using, they just want it to work, simply and reliably. That’s what Vidyo delivers, on virtually any device, network or application for any size organization.”
“Applications like VidyoDesktop VE extend the value of desktop virtualization by enabling enterprise quality video, audio and content collaboration in blended mobile, thin and full client environments,” said Derek Thorslund, Director of Product Management, Citrix. “Vidyo is known in the market for providing consistent HD quality video on any device and any network, making VidyoDesktop VE a perfect fit for Citrix mobile workspace users. Their optimized architecture for XenDesktop and XenApp is a great addition to the Vidyo product portfolio, supporting the large scale virtual desktop adoption that Citrix is seeing.”
The VidyoWorks platform allows for easy integration of video into a variety of applications and workflows such as electronic medical records (EMRs), patient monitoring, financial trading, online banking and other vertical applications. Since many of these markets also utilize VDI environments, VidyoWorks provides a unified platform solution for real-time video communication and collaboration use cases. Financial services, government, healthcare and education customers now have an efficient and cost saving visual communications solution that doesn’t sacrifice security or feature set.
“As organizations seek to expand multi-point face-to-face communications, deploying video communications that easily run on VDI endpoints will become increasingly important,” said Dave Michels, senior analyst at Wainhouse Research. “Vidyo is leveraging its software-based approach to provide a secure, scalable VDI offering. Vertical and enterprise organizations can now meet various video and collaboration requirements needed for greater business agility through VidyoDesktop VE.”
