Tcheng to Direct the Science of One Llama’s Artificial Intelligence for Wearable Devices and the Internet of Things
New York — Feb 27, 2014 / (http://www.myprgenie.com) — One Llama Labs (http://www.onellamalabs.com) today announced the return of David Tcheng, one of the company’s original co-founders, as its Chief Science Officer (CSO). One Llama provides real-time acoustic processing that delivers adaptive-learning, audio intelligence to wearables, mobile devices and the Internet of Things. Tcheng will oversee the architecture and technologies of its audio machine learning solutions.
“One Llama Labs is applying its formidable audio machine learning technology to deliver apps and middleware for wearables along with acoustic intelligence SaaS for a variety of markets,” – Kurt Bauer, CEO, One Llama Labs
“David’s history with One Llama and deep understanding of machine learning technology and his vision for its future are at the heart of what we do.” continued Bauer.
“I’m excited to be returning to One Llama Labs.” says Tcheng. “We are finally at a point in time when the massive benefits of machine learning can be applied to peoples’ everyday lives.”
One Llama Labs’ audio artificial intelligence technology is based on research that began over 10 years ago at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC) National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) in the Automated Learning Lab (ALG) which Tcheng co-founded. With funding from the National Science Foundation Tcheng helped develop a software environment for acoustic music analysis called M2K (Music to Knowledge) based on D2K (Data to Knowledge) a data flow machine learning framework. Tcheng has developed machine learning methods for academic, commercial and government projects for the past 28 years. Currently, Tcheng works as a research scientist with the Illinois Institute for Informatics (I3) where he assists UIUC researchers developing machine learning applications. He is also a musician who composes and is a multi-instrumentalist in multiple bands.
